Why Your Smartphone Photo Won't Upload Directly
Modern smartphone cameras produce high-resolution images that are often 3โ10 MB in size. Passport Seva commonly limits uploads to around 250 KB โ roughly 10โ40ร smaller than a typical phone photo.
Simply renaming a file or changing its extension does not reduce file size. The photo needs to be properly resized to 630ร810 px and compressed as a JPEG. Reducing file size too aggressively can make the photo blurry, so the compression needs to be balanced.
